Conjuro

Banana trees are planted throughout the museum, swaying to double-bass jazz solos. The audience’s feet are also planted in mounds of soil. Screeching above are two lechuza-lechugas or lettuce-owls, waiting for their moment to swoop. Heavy bags of soil are carried in over and over to add to the increasingly re-wilded gallery space. Slices of watermelon are shared amongst all.
Performance created following invitation by Panamanian artist and curator Milko Delgado to make new work at Museum of Contemporary Art of Panama, Panama City, November 2023.
