Huge Sillytoe, operating under the pseudonym ‘Dr. Hugh Sillitoe’, is also an (auto)ethnographic researcher working between the disciplinary boundaries of Art, Performance Studies, Anthropology, and Philosophy, amongst others. They gained their PhD in 2020 for a project entitled – ‘Alegría rebelde and performance (c)art: A comparative (auto)ethnography of absurdist performance practice amongst activists and socially committed artists in Buenos Aires and New York City‘. This thesis is in the process of being converted into a selection of zines, articles, and a book in English and Spanish to be shared more widely.
