The waves are whispering: Mask-making and poetic performance for kids

As artists in residence aboard Centro Cultural Buque Azart, Huge Sillytoe and Ecuadorian performing artist Joselyn Carvajal worked with local schools in San Mateo, Manabí, Ecuador to produce collaborative multi-lingual poems alongside the children’s Spanish and English language lessons. Joselyn and Huge then guided the students through sessions of mask-making and masked-theatre techniques, culminating in public performances combining the poetic texts and mask-characters developed together.
