something will arise from this toxic dump

A hiking, heavily-burdened imp gives each audience member a branch harvested from a woodland grown on top of an abandoned dry ski slope that was built on top of a toxic dump. The gallery space rapidly transforms into a moving forest. Shadowy creatures begin to be identified amongst the canopy, their sounds imitated, their forms drawn onto the skin of the stripping, shrieking imp in eyeliner, charcoal, and black grease. A selection of seeds gifted to the artist by a friend who died by suicide are sewn in to the palms of the audience. Something will grow.
Performance produced on the occasion of Temporary Autonomous Art (TAA), DIY underground arts festival, London, October 2021.
