from cloth to character

Using fabric scraps collected from local markets, Huge Sillytoe guided a mixed group of children and adults through the complete process of bringing these pieces of cloth to life as experimental performance personas: from designing, cutting, and stitching masks to bringing these new characters to life through controlled breath, gesture, and gaze.
Workshops facilitated as part of Kijana Textile Arts Collaborative Residency in Kibera Arts District, Nairobi, Kenya, September 2025.
